Lauren Warrington

Lauren_Website.jpg

Lauren Warrington is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the interplay of physical and virtual environments. Born and raised in Saskatoon, Lauren graduated in 2019 with her BFA from the University of Saskatchewan. Her workengages with mixed reality to explore societal conventions associated with her gender and race. Her current practice explores Chinese folklore and her experiences growing-up as a mixed-race Chinese-Canadian on the prairies. She places an emphasis on process, using a variety of traditional mediums in combination with digital programs; she often transports her work back and forth between the physical and digital. Lauren constructs virtual simulations of objects that are of personal and familial significance. These objects act as transcendent connectors to her ancestors and the identity she once repressed.
