Lauren Warrington is an interdisciplinary artist exploring the interplay of physical and virtual environments. Born and raised on Treaty 6 Territory, Lauren is currently based in Tkaronto/Toronto pursuing a Masters in Visual Studies at the University of Toronto. Her work engages with mixed reality to explore societal conventions associated with her gender and race. Her current practice explores the Chinese-Canadian diaspora and her experiences growing up as a mixed-race Chinese-Canadian on the prairies. She places an emphasis on process, using a variety of traditional mediums in combination with digital programs; she often transports her work back and forth between the physical and digital. Lauren constructs virtual simulations of objects that are of personal and familial significance, seeing these objects act as transcendent connectors to her past ancestors. Lauren is also a founding member of Biofeedback Collective, a three member artist collective focused on creating programming for underrepresented and emerging artists.
